About Count On

Count On... Financial Consultants to schools

Count On was formed by David Young in January 2004 as a vehicle to operate as a freelance financial consultant to schools. The business expanded dramatically in April of that year when he was joined by Julie Eyland, Gail Beckwith and Kevin Johnson and the business became a partnership.

The business was incorporated as a private limited company on 1 October 2010 and styled Count On (School Finance) Ltd. The four partners became the four Directors of the company. We currently provide services to over seventy schools, mainly in the London Borough of Enfield.

We presently provide accredited support for the RM Finance software from RM School Management Solutions (the software was previously known as Cash Accounts. We also support the RM Accounts package (previously known as e1 Finance*). For a closer look at the services we provide please visit the Services page.

* Pearson have withdrawn from the market and have sold their e1 Finance product to RM, who have rebranded it as RM Accounts. Our website has been updated to reflect the new name but it is likely the old name will still appear in the names of files and inside documents that predate the change.

Directors' Profiles

David Young worked in Education Finance for a local authority for nineteen years between 1985 and 2004 and is well respected for his knowledge in this area. He was a key member of the implementation team for the Local Management of Schools scheme in a London Borough in 1988 and his opinions have been sought regularly by the DfE. He is also a member of a working party considering future developments for RM School Management Solutions finance software. David left local authority employment in 2003 and formed Count On in January 2004.

Julie Eyland has had a number of finance roles in both the private and public sectors since leaving school. She joined a London Borough in 1994 as part of an Education Accountancy team where she was responsible for school budget monitoring. In 1998 she became part of the Borough's school support team within Education Finance. From this Julie has become well known to many schools in the Enfield area. Julie joined Count On in April 2004.

Gail Beckwith gained her financial experience working for a bank for seventeen years. For much of that time Gail worked with new and established small businesses looking at their budget planning and monitoring. She then brought her skills and experience to the Education Finance team of a local authority where she spent a further four years, applying those skills to the education sector. Gail also joined Count On in April 2004.

Kevin Johnson worked for a bank for twenty-two years concentrating on the business sector and, like Gail, this involved budget, cash-flow and accounts assessments. He was the manager responsible for looking after the accounts of various educational establishments in the private and public sectors. He then joined the Education Finance team in a local authority for a brief spell prior to becoming a partner in Count On in April 2004.
